Examples of my work:
Maya, Salisbury.

Maya came to me after having had a big clear out of her wardrobe and jewellery box. She wanted to dispose of items she never wore and I suggested I sell them online on her behalf. I took away several bags of items and started the process of sorting, cleaning and identifying. Along with mixed lots of costume jewellery and several watches I identified hallmarked gold and silver items, gold and silver plate, identified various gemstones and researched resale potential for everything. There were also a pair of designer shoes and a designer dress - on the edge of my field of expertise but a pleasure to research! I agreed commission terms with Maya then listed the items on an online marketplace. Two months later, over two thirds of the items have sold and Maya is thrilled with the proceeds so far and  has given me another bag of items to list for her.

Christopher, Shaftesbury.

Chris bought a handsome vintage watch at an antiques fair in Wimborne "for a steal". It's an 'Aircraft' label Swiss made mechanical watch dating from the early 1960s and was in dire need of a service. The crown was loose, the glass was not original and too domed for the model, the seconds hand needed replacing and the luminescence on the hour hands had disintegrated. It was on a perished black strap and Chris wanted a new dark brown one. I sent the watch to my trusted horologist and he started work. Months later the watch was returned (pictured) with a new seconds hand, new lumination on the hour hands, new glass and crown and having had a full service was running very smoothly. I sourced and fitted a new leather strap. Chris was delighted and wears the watch with pride.

Emma, Andover.

Emma had a lovely carved green stone and bead necklace that needed re-stringing, a broken bracelet and two mismatched colourless stone earrings. She'd been gifted the necklace and told it was jade. After some testing I confirmed it was indeed jadeite jade of good colour although I explained I couldn't confirm treatment and grade without sending it to a lab. I recommended she get it re-strung before wearing it again and also before seeking a valuation for insurance. The bracelet was costume jewellery and just needed new jump rings. I fixed it so she could wear it again. Of the earrings, I was able to identify one as a round brilliant cut diamond and the other as synthetic moissanite. We discussed having the diamond set in a pendant so it could be worn again and I explained options including a pre-made claw mount or a bespoke design. After our meeting I connected Emma with a jeweller who re-strings pearls and gemstones. Emma had the jadeite necklace re-strung (pictured - the colour is deeper in person) and is enjoying wearing it again.

Sue, Charlton Marshall.

Sue had a necklace gifted to her many years ago from a prestigious source in the Middle East. Having never worn it she was offered a small sum for it by an acquaintance but became curious as to whether it was worth more. The necklace was in white metal set with small red stones, white stones in star shaped mounts and a large oval light purple centre stone, all attached to a hefty chain. It was in its original box. After simple testing I confirmed the centre stone was a rose cut amethyst, the necklace was 18ct white gold and the dozens of smaller stones were good quality rubies and round brilliant cut diamonds. I researched the maker from the box and confirmed they are still in business and only create fine jewellery. Based on the weight of the gold and the provenance I advised her to sell it privately or via auction. Sue sold the necklace at Semley Auctioneers in April 2024 for a high 3-figure sum.
